BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Health specialists, city leaders and community stakeholders will discuss the impact of the opioid crisis on Whatcom County at a Wednesday public event.
They’ll meet at the recently opened Ideal Option clinic from 3-6 PM, with the official program beginning at 5:00.
Their central talking point will be the role Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) plays in reducing opioid use, overdose deaths and criminal activity.
MAT combines FDA-approved anti-craving medications with behavioral counseling.
Bellingham City Councilmember Pinky Vargas and Whatcom County Public Health Manager Anne Deacon plan to attend.
